players looking to jump straight into the DLC may need to spend some more time with the original game as Bandai Namco has warned that the defeat of a certain boss is a requirement to see the expansion. It's no secret that FromSoftware's latest RPG is brutal as it dishes out a neverending plethora of punishing encounters before The Tarnished even makes it to the boss arena. Unfortunately, those who struggled with the base game may be disappointed to know that they've got some work to do before the DLC arrives.
Posted to X (formerly Twitter), user CohhCarnage noted that FromSoftware has confirmed that players must at least defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood in to access a milestone most users have yet to surpass.
They point out that based on global achievement tracking, only 37.8% on players on Steam have managed to defeat the aformentioned Demigod, meaning that a whopping 62.2% of the community on PC hasn't progressed to the point where they'll be able to play the expansion. This statistic prompted Bandai Namco to issue a call to arms, noting that fans have under two weeks to prepare.
Elden Ring's Shadow of Erdtree DLC is set to add several new items, including one that might entirely change the flow of the game's core combat.
While those Steam numbers are certainly dour, they're significantly stronger than on both PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S. On the former, 34.7% of players have managed to topple the Lord of Blood while the Xbox community is pulling up the rear as only 22.98% of Microsoft's community has defeated Mohg. It's generally difficult to provide a timeline for completetion in, but the majority of players will encounter Mohg just past the half-way mark, so there's still a decent chunk of the game left to complete.
