A PokémonYouTuber streamed for ten days straight in order to complete their living Pokédex and catch 905 Pokémon. In 2020, Game Freak released the Pokémon Home Pokédex storage service which allows players to save their Pokémon from every Generation in one place. The cloud-based app inspired fans of the Game Freak series to try to catch every single Pokémon ever created in order to fill out the Pokémon Home Pokédex, and it's become a popular challenge for content creators and streamers.
In the Gen 1 Pokémon Red and Blue RPGs, players are tasked by Professor Oak with catching all 151 Pokémon in the Kanto region. Keen players have spent every subsequent Generation interested in completing each region's Pokédex. Many players have taken this challenge a step further by maintaining a living Pokédex of every Pokémon that has ever been released. This feat is no easy task though, as the Pokémon series now has over 905 creatures as of the debut of Legends: Arceus HisuianPokémon in January.
