Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage has opened up about whether the series will run as long as The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon is a prequel spin-off series to The Big Bang Theory and tells the tale of genius Sheldon Cooper (originally played by Jim Parsons) as he grows up in Texas through the late 80s and early 90s. The series is created by Steven Molaro and TBBT creator Chuck Lorre and has been running since 2017. Since its release, Young Sheldon has quickly gathered a fanbase almost as big as The Big Bang Theory.
Young Sheldon certainly shows no signs of slowing down. The series is currently in its fifth season and will also be airing its one-hundredth episode on March 31st. On top of this, Young Sheldon has already been renewed for both a season 6 and season 7. Of course, while these are certainly big milestones for any normal television show, they are somewhat small numbers compared to its parent show The Big Bang Theory. Big Bang ran for a whopping twelve seasons, meaning Young Sheldon still has a bit of catching up to do.
