Co-creator Steve Molaro explains why Missy (Raegan Revord) thinks Sheldon (Iain Armitage) is gay in Young Sheldon. CBS' premier sitcom recently celebrated its 100th episode with a jampacked offering. Titled «A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth,» it featured three prominent plotlines, but a brief interaction between the Cooper twins has become the talk of the town as it subtly addresses Sheldon's sexuality.
Out of the three plotlines in Young Sheldon, Sheldon's arc was mostly separated from the rest. Paige (McKenna Grace), his fellow prodigy and one-time crush reunites with the titular character. While Sheldon thrives at East Texas Tech, Paige is struggling at the University of Texas. She felt more frustrated when she found out that not only is Sheldon having a blast learning, but he also has friends. He decides to drop out of school and asks to use his dorm room to escape for a while. Surprisingly, Sheldon agreed; what more is that he even wanted to prepare a care package for her.

This is where Sheldon and Missy's conversation happened. Sheldon asks to borrow Missy's Sassy magazine in Young Sheldon's 100th episode. Unaware of what is going on, Missy exclaimed, «I knew it! Okay look, I'm cool with this but do not tell Dad.» This has convinced fans that Missy thinks her twin is gay — something that Molaro confirmed and further explained in an interview with Deadline.
