Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Young Justice season 4, episode 15, «Ebb Tide.»
In Young Justice season 4, the show highlighted an issue regarding time travel, as the Legion of Super-Heroes tried to save Superboy and fix the timeline. In most time travel stories (including most DC Comics adaptations) changes to the timeline are not immediately set in stone and time travelers often have some ability to precisely predict the results of their actions. The opening story arc of Young Justice season 4 found three members of the Legion of Super-Heroes secretly observing Superboy and Miss Martian while working to prevent some threat to the 31st century. The full scope of the Legionnaires' mission was not revealed until the Young Justice season 4 episode «Ebb Tide,» when Saturn Girl and Chameleon Boy approached Superman for help. The Legionnaires revealed that they had been sent back in time to prevent Superboy's death, due to the pivotal role he was destined to play in a battle ten years from the day they approached Superman. They also explained that the time-traveling assassin they were working against had destroyed their time machine, leaving them unable to go back to an earlier point in time and make a second attempt at saving Superboy.
