Apple had announced the new iOS 16 update which introduced a bunch of new features and customisation options recently at the WWDC 2022. One of these features is the ability to let you edit the sent messages on the iMessage app. No matter how good you are at typing, common grammar mistakes and typos are difficult to avoid. Sometimes, the wrong message is sent and other times something even more outrageous happens. But with the iOS 16 update, this will change forever. Although iOS 16 hasn't rolled out yet, but iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and other users can edit the messages, if you are running on the iOS 16 Beta version. If not, then iOS 16 is expected to roll out for the wider audience around the Apple’s Fall event. So, here is how the magic of iOS 16 will allow you to edit sent messages on your iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and other iPhones.
You can edit the sent messages on your iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and other iPhones running on iOS 16 Beta version. You will need to open the iMessages app on your iPhone and open a conversation thread. You can use the same trick on your iPad to on the latest version.
Now, choose a recently sent message that you want to edit. Note, you can edit the message only within a 15-minute period after sending it. After that, the feature to edit the sent message won’t work.
You will need to long press on the message that you are editing and this will pop-up a menu. Tap on Edit.
Now you can simply make the required changes to the text message. Once you are done editing, then tap the “blue checkmark” to confirm. This will save the edits and allow you to save the edited text.
And it’s done! No one will know about your earlier message. However, the edited text will be displayed to the recipient with the “Edited”
