The movie, based on the Danish film of the same name written by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen, tells the tale of two robbers who must use an ambulance as a getaway vehicle after one of their heists goes horribly wrong. Ambulance releases in movie theaters on April 8.
As many moviegoers who have seen Bay's films will know, the director's trademark is absolutely chaotic action scenes. Fans of Bay have lovingly dubbed this kind of action as «Bayhem,» and with a story about a speeding ambulance, it is almost a certainty Bay will be making sure that some intense things are going to happen to this vehicle. Trailers for the film have already shown multiple shootouts, and several scenes in which the ambulance must outrun helicopters, with the trademark «Bayhem» explosions. To many, this would imply the use of stunt-drivers, and viewers might be surprised to learn that for a good chunk of shooting, it is actually either Abdul-Mateen or Gyllenhaal behind the wheel.

In a recent interview to promote the film on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel himself questions whether Abdul-Mateen is qualified to operate an ambulance. The actor admits that he thought he perhaps would have more skills behind the wheel of an ambulance than he actually did, given that he has moved homes a total of thirteen times, which gave him «a lot of experience behind a U-Haul.» However, it quickly became clear that Gyllenhaal did not have as much faith in Abdul-Mateen, stating that «having been in a car
