The longtime leader of the X-Men, the telepathic Professor X, continues to prove he is the most toxic leader in all of Marvel Comics in a preview for the upcoming Sabretooth #3. While it seemed like Charles might actually decided to take accountability and step down from the Quiet Council after the disastrous events of Inferno, the mutants have had no such luck, and Xavier continues to spread his toxicity throughout the island nation of Krakoa.
While casual fans might think Professor X has always been the leader of the X-Men, this is not true, as he has been replaced by people like Storm, Magneto, Kate Pryde, Wolverine, and Cyclops throughout the X-Men's publication history, and most of them have led the mutants way better than Charles ever did. Time and time again, Xavier has shown that he can't be trusted and will do whatever it takes to succeed at his «dream,» even at the cost of his own values, such as the revelation of his hidden first team in Deadly Genesis, the secrets he kept with Moira X which led to Inferno, and his extremely sketchy return form the dead by taking over Fantomex's body.
