After taking a one-year hiatus, WWE 2K22 developer Visual Concepts decided to spend the time rebuilding its franchise from the ground up. One of the key changes made in this year’s iteration of thefranchise is a new and improved Career Mode, called MyRise. MyRise will give players the opportunity to create a superstar and guide them through the ranks from prospect to WrestleMania headliner.
MyRise shakes up the traditional MyCareer format and offers players over 50 hours of gameplay, which includes around 1,000 fights and two separate storylines. Players will create their superstars and progress through fights while shaping the character they want to portray using a crowd reaction system. This lets superstars turn face or heel seemingly based on their actions, making WWE 2K22's Career mode the most comprehensive yet in the franchise.

While creating a new superstar to embark on the MyRise journey, players will have several options that dictate their creation’s fighting style, background, crowd reaction, and storyline. The two storylines have been created to accommodate both a male and female MyPlayer’s journey, which should add replayability to the game mode.
Players will also be able to set their superstar’s background, picking from a shortlist of available backstories that will give the MyPlayer certain boosts. The three backgrounds revealed in the gameplay trailer of WWE 2K22 are MMA, Indie Talent, and Pro Athlete, each of which will provide unique boosts to different aspects of the wrestler. For example, the MMA background improves striking and submission, while the Pro Athlete background will boost grappling and durability.
