In a new preview for Marvel Comics' X Lives of Wolverine #3, Logan suggests that a truly happy ending could only ever come from losing his iconic healing factor and the immortality that comes with it. Due to his impressive mutant power, Logan has lived an extremely long life, being far older than Professor Charles Xavier himself. While this allows Wolverine to save Xavier from time-terrorists seeking to end the powerful telepath's life in the past, it also Wolvemeans Logan might never be happy if he continues living forever.
In previous issues of X Lives of Wolverine, Logan's present mind was sent back in time to younger versions of his body, just like in the live-action X-Men: Days of Future Past film. With Russia having sent Omega Red into the past using similar methods to kill Charles Xavier, it's up to Logan to keep the future leader of the mutant nation of Krakoa protected. However, Wolverine has also been taking opportunities to correct past mistakes, such as some of the horrible acts he committed as a part of Weapon X (potentially risking the trajectory of his life in the process.)

Logan is seen reflecting on his life while traversing back along his own extensive timeline in a new preview for X Lives of Wolverine #3. Coming from writer Benjamin Percy and artist Joshua Cassara, this new issue suggests that Logan could only truly be happy if he were to lose the source of his unwanted immortality, seeing it as a curse.
