Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 devs form new studio Dark Passenger
A number of former CD Projekt Red developers have regrouped to form new studio Dark Passenger.
Based in Warsaw, Poland, the Dark Passenger team has previously worked on titles including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
The studio's debut project is billed as an online action game set in feudal Japan. The title is being built in Unreal Engine 5 and will include co-op, PvP, PvE, and online multiplayer game modes.
According to Dark Passenger, the unnamed project will feature a new "locomotion system" that lets players perform impressive feats including running on arrows loosed by other players, scaling vertical surfaces using shuko claws, and leaping over obstacles using a pole-like yari spear.
The studio said the title will also include a deluge of customization options so players can create unique characters and modify their weapons and equipment.
"Our goal is to create highly exciting on-line experiences that are focused both on cooperation and rivalry. We’re fascinated by interpersonal interactions, alliances, daring confrontations and unexpected twists of events," reads the Dark Passenger website.
"In order to make every game unique and surprising, we’re using advanced, procedural solutions. While the goal will be the same for all players, every time achieving it will require a different approach, tactics and taken routes."
Dark Passenger hopes to bring its debut title to platforms including Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, the Epic Games Store, and Steam.
