Early reports of Wild Hearts gameplay aren't good. The game releases on Thursday, but EA Play subscribers have access to a time-limited trial that'll give them a head start when the game arrives later this week. Unfortunately, while the gameplay seems solid, many are reporting poor performance on all platforms.
Things are especially bad on PC, where players in the Wild Hearts subreddit say that the game is "poorly optimized." Even computers that meet or exceed the recommended system requirements are unable to get consistent framerates even at extremely low resolutions, with one player saying it doesn't matter whether they play at 4K or 720p.

Things are only marginally better on other platforms. Here we have an Xbox Series X player noting the difference between their in-game screenshots and the promotional images released by EA. They definitely look like two different games. Other players have provided extreme examples of bad textures and foliage making the world seem a lot more artificial than what was portrayed in trailers. GamesRadar notes that Wild Hearts' visuals are also a "blurry mess" on PS5, so don't think PlayStation players have escaped unscathed.
Some fans think that the full version of the game might be different from the trial version that's currently available. It's certainly possible that EA and developer Koei Tecmo just didn't have the time to produce an optimized demo and the full game will be much better. But there's also some evidence suggesting that what you see is what you get.
