Parks & Recreation hasn’t had any spinoff shows, but it could have had one centered on none other than Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, but the series’ creators had big reasons not to do it. Among the best TV shows of the decade is Parks & Recreation, created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, and which debuted on NBC in 2009. Although its first season was weak and didn’t do much good to the show, Parks & Recreation lived on for seven seasons, coming to an end in 2015 and getting a reunion special in 2020.
Parks & Recreation took the audience to the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, to meet the crew at the Parks Department, led by the always cheerful Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). Through her, viewers got to meet her coworkers and closest friends quite well, with many of them becoming fan-favorites, but some of their friends were also introduced and became quite popular as well, as was the case of Jean-Ralphio Saperstein (Ben Schwartz), a close friend and business partner of Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari).

Jean-Ralphio is the son of Dr. Saperstein (Henry Winkler) and the twin brother of Mona-Lisa (Jenny Slate), and he was Tom’s spoiled, cocky, but also cheerful and naive friend with whom he was often involved in a variety of weird businesses, most notably the failed multimedia entertainment company Entertainment 720. Although he appeared sporadically throughout Parks & Recreation, Jean-Ralphio became one of the series’ most popular and beloved characters thanks to Schwartz’s comedic skills and charm, and it was he who asked Schur about a spinoff focused on Jean-Ralphio, but Schur had a very good reason not to do it: there’s such thing as too much
