Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't kill Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 6, and the Jedi Master has a good reason behind his decision. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return to Star Wars after almost two decades, this time reprising their roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader on the small screen via the Disney+ series. After six episodes, it officially ends with the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale delivering on the promise of a rematch between the former allies.
Alongside the announcement that Christensen would return as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show was the confirmation that the series would see him battling his former Jedi Master as well. Before the project premiered, there was an assumption that the pair's much-anticipated encounter wouldn't happen until towards the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi's run, so it was surprising to see them face off early in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3. However, given their lopsided fight, with the Sith Lord overpowering the Jedi, it became clear that a final, more intense rematch was still to come. Lucasfilm delivered that in theObi-Wan Kenobi finale.

Unlike their first bout in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Obi-Wan was better equipped to fight Darth Vader in the series finale. He ultimately won the match, but instead of going for the kill, he decided to let his ex-Padawan live. Aside from the fact that establishedStar Wars canon dictates that Darth Vader survives the fight, there's also a more profound significance to Obi-Wan's decision to spare the Sith Lord's life.
