Set to release in 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last one to feature the original team, but it shouldn't mean the end of every character's MCU presence. Throughout their run thus far, the Guardians of the Galaxy have been one of the most ragtag groups in Marvel's cinematic universe, comprised of quirky yet complex heroes that each bring their own unique brand of humor. Thus, even if Guardians 3 is the last time the whole team joins forces, there's still plenty of mileage left in the individual characters.
James Gunn has kept most of the film's details under wraps, but Guardians of the Galaxy 3's story is confirmed to be emotional and, according to Gunn, "big and dark." While the film might surprise audiences in some ways, however, such hints make it clear that the original team of Guardians will be getting the climactic third installment they deserve. Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) have been together since the beginning, with Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) joining the team in a more official capacity in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Given the team's long history and close bond, then, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is sure to pack an emotional punch regardless of how it plays out.
