Grogu parted ways with Din Djarin at the end of The Mandalorian season 2; however, The Book of Boba Fett tells audiences why Grgou’s future has to be with the Mandalorian, not Luke Skywalker. Din Djarin's appearance in the Star Wars spin-off show makes it is clear that he is still torn up over leaving Grogu — and The Book of Boba Fett episode 6reveals that Grogu might be feeling the same way, laying the foundation for their future.
The Book of BobaFett episode 6 shifts the story to the interactions between Luke Skywalker and Grogu, with the Child's powers expanding. Throughout his training, Grogu reflects on his past with Din Djarin — a life he's had to leave behind in order to pursue Jedi training. The episode culminated with Luke giving Grogu a choice between the way of the Jedi or Mandalorian, lightsaber or Mandalorian armor. What Grogu ultimately chose is still to be seen; however, no matter his choice, The Book of Boba Fett heavily hints that his future is Mandalorian.

Both Din Djarin and Grogu mirror each other: Din was asked to leave his Mandalorian sect because of events that occurred while he was traveling with Grogu, and the youngling lived a life outside of the Jedi code while under Din Djarin's care. The both of them have become outsiders, and as Luke explains in The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, it is unclear where Grogu’s heart lies, whether it is with the way of the Jedi, or if it is elsewhere.
