Netflix's The Umbrella Academy season 3 finale has Allison's (Emmy Raver-Lampman) power failing to stop Reginald (Colm Feore) from programming the machine hidden in Hotel Oblivion. Though Allison is able to save her fellow Umbrellas by taking an ax to Reginald's head, it is unclear why he is completely unaffected by the force of her command. Still, Reginald's ambitions come to fruition, and the newly powerless Umbrellas have a tough road ahead of them as they look to face down Reginald's empire in a likely season 4 for the superhero series.
Reginald's Hotel Oblivion plan involves sacrificing his adopted children as batteries to power the universe resetting machine. Even though she had made a deal with Reginald to reunite her with Raymond (Yusuf Gatewood) and Claire (Coco Assad), her husband and daughter from previous timelines, Allison was not on board with killing the rest of the Hargreeves as it wasn't part of their deal. While Reginald programs a new universe, Allison uses her power and tells him to "stop" to no effect. The Umbrellas are only freed once she kills Reginald, revealing his alien identity to her.

Allison's powers didn't stop Reginald in The Umbrella Academy's season 3 finale because, despite her growing stronger and being able to rumor without saying "I heard a rumor," she still has her limitations. Reginald could have resisted Allison's command, or perhaps she didn't rumor him properly. Whatever the case, Allison's power not being foolproof puts a significant damper on an otherwise versatile ability.
