The Westworld season 4 trailer reveals more details about the return of Evan Rachel Wood. The hit HBO sci-fi series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, written and directed by Jurassic Park scribe Michael Crichton. The series, which premiered in October 2016, follows a high-tech theme park that is populated with Hosts, robotic beings who are subjected to physical and sexual violence by attendees. The show stars Wood, Anthony Hopkins, Rodrigo Santoro, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, Tessa Thompson, James Marsden, Thandiwe Newton, Jimmi Simpson, and Shannon Woodward.
For the first three seasons, Wood played Dolores, a Host who was originally designated as a rancher's daughter. As the oldest Host in the park, she starts to become more self-aware and eventually realizes the truth that her existence is entirely fabricated. In the Westworld season 3 finale, which premiered in May 2020, Dolores had her mind erased, leading audiences to speculate about how, or even if, she would return to the series.

Now, HBO has dropped the newest trailer for Westworld season 4. The clip teases the epic scope of the next chapter in the sci-fi saga. After loving shots of the urban sprawl of the city, the trailer teases out the major themes of the robots evolving further than they've ever been before. It also showcases the return of Wood, who is now playing writer Christina, who is struggling with identity issues and going to therapy in a plotline that seems to mirror a similar thread in last year's The Matrix Resurrections.
