Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate — Daemonhunters is a turn-based strategy game developed by Complex Games and published by Frontier Foundry. The game is filled with brutally difficult battles and hard choices at every turn, as the Space Marines struggle to stop the ever-evolving forces of chaos, but with this challenge comes a feeling of accomplishment, and an excellent story pacing that helps keep the player invested over a long campaign.
Daemonhunters follows a ship used by Grey Knights: a chapter of the Space Marines who specialize in dealing with the forces of chaos. The ship in question is the Baleful Edict, which is returning to Titan for much-needed repairs when it's stopped by Inquisitor Vikar, who takes command of the vessel as part of an urgent mission. The forces of Nurgle have unleashed a horrific plague in the system, known as the Bloom, which is transforming the infected into hideous monsters. The player takes on the role of an unnamed commander, who must direct the Grey Knight squads in battle, keep the Bloom in check, manage the repairs of the Baleful Edict, monitor the research and development of new weapons, and try to stop conflict from brewing between Vikar and the other commanding officers aboard the ship.

The gameplay loop of Daemonhunters will be instantly familiar to those who have placed the XCOM series. There is a management screen aboard the Baleful Edict, where the player manages Vikar's research, the ship's repairs, the troops in the barracks, and moves between different planets. It's possible to advance time by just remaining in place, but the player will rarely have time to coalesce, as the Bloom quickly starts spreading.
