Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games has already become one of the most popular adaptations of the character, and rumors have been flying about what could take place in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which could even be influenced by the character's presence in the multiverse. Some players might not know that Insomniac's Peter Parker has been on some significant adventures since the events of his first game, and they could be referenced in the upcoming sequel. These adventures, which took place after the first game but presumably before the second, swung PlayStation's Spider-Man into the multiverse and cemented him in Marvel comics canon.
The multiverse of Marvel Comics has been shown off in many forms, most recently on the big screen with both live-action and animated adaptations. Though the multiverse may seem like an MCU trend that would be cheap to copy, it also has a storied history in the comics. Marvel's comics cover a broad number of universes and feature an even broader variety of characters. Among the multitude of Marvel superheroes, Spider-Man has had more experience with the multiverse than most. Now, Marvel's Spider-Man has been added to the Spider-Verse, which could result in the comics directly impacting the games, and vice versa.
