Hungarian developer Gaijin Entertainment announced that War Thunder Mobile is now in open beta. Android users can download it as an APK file from the game’s official website. Gaijin Entertainment says the beta should launch on Google Play and the iOS App Store in a few months. However, the studio hasn’t announced an exact date yet.
A multiplayer action game, War Thunder Mobile lets players join large multiplayer battles in various military vehicles. These range from pre-World War 1 battleships to modern tanks and helicopters, though War Thunder primarily focuses on World War 2. Its primary technology trees include vehicles from the US, UK, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Italy, China, Sweden and Israel. It also features premium and researchable vehicles from countries like Spain, Poland, Austria, Turkey, Romania and more. Developers have taken great pains to accurately represent its varied military hardware arsenal in terms of appearance and combat performance. However, some accuse War Thunder of having a pro-Russian bias.
The beta version of War Thunder Mobile currently features over 200 tanks, ships and aircraft. These include the Japanese World War 2 battleship Yamato, which Gaijin’s yet to release on the PC version. The mobile port also features a new progression system, and the developer promises more exclusive features on the way. Speaking of progression, Gaijin clarified that there will not be a server reset when the full release comes. This means players who join the open beta won’t lose their progress.
