Shortly after you start Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong, you will be asked to select a Profile. You will be asked to do it for each of the three characters, and your choice determines what you can do whilst playing through the game’s various Scenes. Considering how integral the RPG mechanics are to the experience, this choice could get quite difficult to make.

Thankfully, this choice, whilst permanent, is not the be-all and end-all of the experience. Swansong has multiple other ways to handle just about every situation, and your initial choice can be “fixed” just as easily as it can be selected. It might just take a little while to get around to it.

The investigator focuses more on conversational, technological, and deduction-based skills. If you want a class that can engage in a battle of wits, hack a PC, or pick a lock, then this Profile is for you.
The Veteran is more focused on skills like Intimidation and using Vampiric Disciplines to gain an advantage in conversations. This could be Domination or Presence based on the vampire in question.
This profile is exactly what it says on the tin. This Profile will invest stats in just about everything, letting you interact and communicate effectively in most areas of the game.
