Valve Unveils Best Performing Steam Games in 2023
Valve has just released an extensive list of "Best of Steam" titles, including those that were most played throughout the year across multiple platforms.
The "Best of Steam" is Valve's annual list that highlights the top-earning games. As usual, the games have been divided into four different categories: Platinum (1st-12th), Gold (12th-24th), Silver (25th-50th), and Bronze (51th-100th). The data includes sales from January 1st, 2023 through December 15th, 2023. The 11 top-earning titles on Steam in 2023 were:
No big surprises here, except maybe the runaway success of the indie horror game Sons of the Forest and the fact that Destiny 2, despite all its problems, remains a popular game in the Steam community.
Moreover, Valve has also compiled the data of "Best Selling" new titles, where we can find a few more successful games released in 2023 in addition to the already listed Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3, Sons of the Forest, and Starfield:
Interestingly, Valve's data also includes "Most Played Games" on Steam Deck, which is measured by the daily active players. Beside usual suspects like Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, and Starfield, we also find the decade-old Grand Theft Auto V, the 25-year-old Half-Life, Dave the Diver, Elden Ring, and Vampire Survivors. As a reminder, Valve is also about to announce the Steam Awards as voted by the community in 11 different categories.
