Of all the new content received in the update, players are most curious about how to tame and mount an Askvin. Although you can't jump or attack while riding these ferocious beasts, they boast a good chunk of health and can hold up their own in a fight. So, if you're looking for a new mount fit to back you up against every new enemy in update, you can't go wrong with taming an Askvin.
Taming an Askvin is very similar to how to tame a Lox. However, unlike a Lox,Askvins can swim across bodies of water, making them a bit more intriguing to tame and mount. Moreover, Askvins come in three rarities: normal Asksvin are a dark, muddy green, one-star Asksvin have a slightly bluer hue, and two-star Asksvin are deep purple. As a result, you'll most likely want to find and tame a purple Askvin to get the best possible mount.
Valheim’s new Ashlands update includes some of the strangest creatures the game has featured yet. They can be hard to tame, but it’s worth the effort.
Taming Askvins in is a simple procedure thanks to the YouTube video by Late_Night_Stream. Who notes that before you can find and tame an Askvin, you must first make an Askvin saddle. This can be done at the Black Forge (level 2) and will require six Flametal, 20 Linen Thread, and four Morgen Sinew.
Flametal ore can be found in glowing metal piles scattered around the biome, and will require an iron pickaxe to mine. Linen Thread is made simply by adding flax to a Spinning wheel. Lastly, Morgen Sinew can be acquired by killing Morgen in the biome.
Once you have your saddle, you can start searching for Askvins throughout the biome. However, because creatures spawn at random, players will need to search the biome to find one. Once you've found an Askvin you deem fit (hopefully a two-star purple Askvin), you'll need to create a deep pit to trap it in. This way, you canget the Askvin to agro on you and can lure and trap it in the pit.
Now that you have an Askvin trapped in your pit, you can easily tame them.
