One of the obstacles in V Rising that Vampire adventurers will encounter during the early stages of their playthrough is not being able to harvest Iron Ore from Iron nodes. The first time players will likely be confronted with this issue will be in the Haunted Iron Mine of Dunley Farmlands. The underground mine shafts are full of Iron nodes in V Rising, but when struck, these ore pillars only display the following message, «Attack level too low!»
Naturally, the source of this source predicament lies within the weapons or tools that the Vampire is using in V Rising. Unfortunately, Copper armaments are not strong enough to break through Iron Ore. Bloodsucking travelers will instead require gear made from «Merciless Copper,» an upgraded version of standard Copper equipment. The schematics for Merciless Copper gear in V Rising are primarily acquired via two methods: random enemy drops or randomized research unlocks.

After a certain point of progression in V Rising, players will gain access to the Research Desk, a structure that costs 8 Planks, 120 Animal Hide, and 80 Stone. With the Research Desk, Vampires can consume 50 Paper to learn a random Technology or blueprint, such as Merciless Copper weapons or armor. This desk is also the workstation in V Risingrequired to unlock the Paper Press, the device used to craft said Paper.
On the other hand, V Rising fans can farm Bandits and V Blood Bosses in Farbane Woods to receive a possible mob drop containing a Merciless Copper schematic.
