According to an inside source, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 publisher Rockstar Games is getting ready to reveal a new project soon, lending hope to those hoping for a new-gen upgrade for RDR2 or a remaster of the original. The video game mega-publisher has been rather busy these past few years, with Red Dead Redemption 2 launching to near-universal acclaim back in 2018 and Grand Theft Auto Online continuing to build a large and devoted player base with celebrity GTA endorsements from Dr. Dre and DJ Pooh. Not everything Rockstar has put out in this timeframe has been a success however, as last year’s GTA Trilogy — Definitive Edition launched with a vast array of game-crashing bugs and glitches, and the company's perceived negligence of Red Dead Online continues to be a point of contention among fans.
Still, plenty of gamers are looking forward to what Rockstar Games has in store for the future, especially when it comes to the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6. Earlier this year, Rockstar finally announced that GTA 6 is indeed in development, prompting even more speculation about the upcoming open-world crime blockbuster’s plot and setting — with fans even going as far as dissecting other releases like GTA Trilogy — Definitive Edition for clues. Insiders have hinted that a trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 could be coming sooner than originally expected, and that Rockstar is building the game with a brand-new, in-house engine that could take the series to new technical heights.
