The PlayStation 5 is already known for having one of the most innovative controllers on the market in the form of the DualSense but one upcoming game is planning on taking the mechanics that made the gamepad so popular and making them even more exciting. Given the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, it seems a shame that not too many AAA games have managed to fully utilize the power of the DualSense controller to make some truly memorable experiences. Fortunately, PlayStation's new mascot is looking to change up the game for everyone.
Speaking in an interview with YouTube Julien Chièze, which was translated by IconEra user Remember_Spinal, director Nicolas Doucet, head of Team Asobi, confirmed that has a dedicated team of creators dedicated to conjuring up unique ways for players to interact with the DualSense.
The division, which consists of three to four people, is continually working on new ideas regarding the DualSense and while not all of them will feature in, there will be some exciting new mechanics. While specifics were not mentioned, Doucet did touch on one new interesting feature.
Astro is finally getting a full-length game with his upcoming platforming adventure, Astro Bot, coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5.
Without giving too much away, Doucet stated that one of the new forms of interaction will see players moving Astro Bot towards a role, prompting the character to hold up his hand and feel the terrain. As he moves along it, the DualSense will rumble differently depending on whether the surface is smoother or bumpy. With this mechanic, players will be able to detect hidden doors and caves that may be obscured by the environment, providing them with an effective use of the haptic feedback.
While he may be one of PlayStation's more recent mascots,Astro has quickly become synonymous with the PlayStation 5 thanks to the excellent , a free game that came bundled with the console which was used to highlight the various uses of the DualSense.
