An Uncharted prequel game concept from Days Gone director Jeff Ross would have seen a young Victor Sullivan take the lead role. Naughty Dog's globetrotting series stars adventurous archaeologist Nathan Drake and his conman mentor Sully. While Naughty Dog says a new Uncharted game is possible, developer Bend Studio apparently pitched its own unique installment.
While Bend Studio is perhaps most well-known for creating the open-world post-apocalypse of Days Gone, the PlayStation Studios developer has a much longer history. The studio created the classic 1996 platformer Bubsy 3D, and in 1999 the team kicked off the long-running stealth action series Syphon Filter. Bend Studios even has first-hand experience with Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise, having created the successful 2011 PlayStation Vita title Uncharted: Golden Abyss. However, the supposedly disappointing reception of Days Gone led Sony to reject a sequel to the 2019 zombie survival game. Bend Studio subsequently pitched a number of projects, such as a new Resistance game from the Days Gone dev, but many of them were rejected too.

According to Video Games Chronicle, Days Gone director Jeff Ross conceptualized an Uncharted prequel after Sony rejected Days Gone 2. Ross' idea would see Sully, around the age of 25, having his own adventures in the stylized world of the 1970s. The game's story would have explored the beloved conman leaving the Navy and becoming a masterful hustler. The project would have pulled inspiration from the James Bond franchise, along with films like Joker and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, rather than modern adventure films.
