Elden Ring sales saw a massive boost in the UK last month coinciding with the release of the game’s first and only planned expansion.
The launch of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC helped sales of the base game (which is required to play the expansion) jump 467% month-on-month.
That’s according to GSD data published by GamesIndustry.biz, which tracks all physical sales plus digital sales from most major publishers, excluding Nintendo and 505 Games.
The sales boost saw Elden Ring jump 19 places to No.4 on the monthly software sales chart, which was led by familiar faces EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto 5.
Late May release F1 24 was the highest new entry at No.3, despite a relatively slow start which saw sales down 44% compared with F1 23’s first five weeks on the market.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD was another new entry at No.14, a feat achieved based on physical sales alone given that Nintendo doesn’t share digital data.
On the hardware front, monthly console sales fell 9% compared to June 2023, according to GfK data. PS5 comfortably held its position as the best-selling console, while Xbox Series X/S narrowly outsold Nintendo Switch.
During the first half of the year, console sales were down 29% in units and down 31% in revenue compared to 2023, when PS5 and Switch fared significantly better.
