Chief Financial Officer at Ubisoft Frederick Duguet discussed the state of Skull & Bones after the release of his latest earnings report. The executive said that development is going well, noting that everything has been proceeding largely as planned. The company has on the other hand released very little information about this troubled title in recent years.
The game has undergone several changes of direction over the course of its development. Skull & Bones began as a massively multiplayer online role playing game before being turned into an exploration game and then finally becoming a survival game. Skull & Bones was revealed in 2017 for a planned release in 2018, but the game was delayed until 2019 and then again until 2020. Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft Yves Guillemot eventually revealed that Skull & Bones would be delayed until at least April, 2022. Players might not actually see the game until as late as March, 2023.

Speaking to investors last week, Duguet went so far as to say that he was "very happy" with the progress being made on the game by its current development team at Ubisoft Singapore. Duguet apparently has no plans to cancel the project even despite its rocky production so far.
Ubisoft revealed in September, 2020 that it would be pursuing a “new vision” for the game and that subsidiary studios in Berlin, Chengdu, Kiev, Paris, and the Philippines would be joining Ubisoft Singapore in the production of Skull & Bones.
