Troy Baker will reportedly appear in Naughty Dog’s next game.
The prolific voice actor, who has starred as Joel in The Last of Us series and Sam Drake in the Uncharted franchise, is reuniting with Naughty Dog for the new title from studio head and creative director Neil Druckmann.
While the role he’ll play is unclear and the game itself has yet to be announced, Baker’s inclusion was confirmed in a new GQ profile of the actor.
“In a heartbeat I would always work with Troy,” Druckmann told the publication.
He also described Baker as “a demanding actor”, adding: “Troy’s trying to stretch the limits of what this thing is, and often he succeeds at making it better than it was in my imagination.”
Before Naughty Dog’s next game is released, Baker is starring as the voice of Indy in December’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and he’ll also appear in Judas, the next game from BioShock creator Ken Levine.
Druckmann said in July that numerous games, including “multiple single-player projects”, were in development at Naughty Dog, but stressed that while they won’t all be The Last of Us titles, they will have a similar goal.
“We create experiences that are steeped in story and character, especially relationships,” he told the LA Times. “The stories have some sort of philosophical core that everything is going to revolve around and feed into.”
It was recently claimed that Naughty Dog’s next game will have a significant focus on player freedom.
