Multiple classic Call of Duty titles appear on Microsoft PC Store, sparking Game Pass hopes

Several classic Call of Duty titles have been added to Microsoft’s PC store, sparking hopes of an imminent Game Pass addition.

Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: United Offensive were all added to Microsoft‘s PC store for purchase, having previously been unavailable on the platform.

Games industry news reporter Knoebel posted on X that the games may have been added ahead of their inclusion on Game Pass.

This has been the case for previous legacy PC titles that were released long before the current iteration of Microsoft’s PC store.

Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare are currently playable on Xbox Series consoles via backward compatibility. Call of Duty: United Offensive was never released on console.

The latest entry in Activision’s shooter series was released on October 25 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. Notably, it was also the first Call of Duty to be available on Game Pass on day one.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented on the game’s early performance during the company’s first quarter earnings call earlier this year.

“[The] launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day,” he said.

“And unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60% year-over-year. This speaks to our strategy of meeting gamers where they are by enabling them to play more games across the screens they spend their time on.”
