Following 2022’s first solar eclipse, which happened on April 30, May 15 will witness this year’s first lunar eclipse which is expected to be a total lunar eclipse. You can check Blood Moon date below. 

According to space.com, May’s moon is known as the Flower Moon and so the upcoming eclipse is being termed as the full Flower Moon eclipse. The blood moon date and general timing is from late evening of May 15 and early morning of May 16, depending on time zones, when the Flower Moon will enter the Earth’s shadow causing a total lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be visible from major parts of Americas and Antarctica, as well as the western reaches of Europe and Africa and the eastern side of the Pacific. People in eastern Europe, Middle East and New Zealand will witness what is known as Penumbral eclipse during which just the edge of Earth's shadow will fall over the moon.

The partial eclipse will begin on May 15 at 10:28 p.m. EDT, reaching its maximum on May 16 at 12:11a.m. EDT. It will conclude at 1:55 a.m. EDT. The Penumbral eclipse will begin an hour earlier and is expected to end an hour after the end of the partial eclipse, according to TimeandDate.com.

 The total lunar eclipse sometimes gives the moon a reddish hue which is termed as Blood Moon. It happens because light from the sun refracts around the Earth, while the Earth acts as a prism. The light waves are stretched out, so they appear with a reddish hue when they reach the moon. The total lunar eclipse is a phenomenon which is a sight to behold. But if you miss out on it, you’re in luck as another total lunar eclipse will take place this year on November 8, which will be visible from various parts of the world.
