Chicago P.D. Star Teases Upton's Fate After Season 9's Big Cliffhanger
Chicago P.D. stars LaRoyce Hawkins and Patrick John Flueger tease Detective Hailey Upton's fate after season 9's major cliffhanger. Acting as a sister show to both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, Chicago P.D. chronicles the lives of the police officers in District 21, both uniformed cops and also the members of the elite Intelligence Unit. Chicago P.D. is now on season 9 and showing no signs of slowing down, with murder cover-ups, custody battles, officers going rogue, and secret romances comprising several of the storylines so far.
The most recent batch of episodes for Chicago P.D. see Intelligence attempting to take down drug kingpin Javier Escano (José Zúñiga). Season 9, episode 21, the last before the finale, ended on a big cliffhanger as Detectives Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) were caught in a shocking explosion. The Chicago P.D. episode ends with Halstead emerging from the blast unharmed, but Upton's fate is left in the balance, with the episode cutting to black before viewers know whether or not she survived.

In a new interview with TV Insider, Hawkins and Flueger hint that, although things might look dire for Upton, the duo believes the character will pull through. Hawkins explains that members of Intelligence have historically been very tough, citing the numerous other injuries that characters on the show have experienced and recovered from. Flueger adds that Spiridakos also "brings the light" on set and jokes that her character has superhuman healing abilities. Check out the comments from Hawkins and Flueger below:
