During the media call about the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Tony Khan was asked about the company's wellness policy and he shared some details on that matter. It was a necessary question, given Jon Moxley's recent comments about his time in alcohol rehab and Jeff Hardy's arrest for a DUI on June 14.
There have been questions and concerns about AEW's wellness policy dating back several months, as other performers, such as Matt Hardy, were visibly injured on television but still allowed to finish their matches. Moxley voluntarily entered rehab and returned to the company on January 19, and has since been elevated to the main event of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Hardy was reportedly arrested in Florida for driving with a BAC of .294, according to police documents that were obtained by TMZ.com.

Fielding a question about AEW's wellness policy, Khan said the following. "We have a wellness policy, but in the case of drinking, I think we have to be really careful because most people drink really responsibly." He stressed that they have a guideline in place, while also noting that Moxley's situation and Hardy's were "apples and oranges." In the case of Jon, he sought help on his own accord while Jeff drove under the influence, thus putting people in danger. He fielded another question about the wellness policy later in the call and said that "we're here to help anybody who needs it… hopefully they'll come to us instead of it being under a circumstance where they get themselves in trouble." Khan was adamant in saying that anyone who needs time off can take it, no matter their place in the company.
