Call of Duty: Vanguard didn’t quite live up to the publisher’s expectations. Its sales fell short of Black Ops: Cold War and Modern Warfare, with Activision blaming Vanguard’s disappointing sales on the World War 2 setting. However, it remains an integral part of Call of Duty: Warzone, which has risen to be one of the top contenders in the crowded battle royale market.
Activision will probably be supporting Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone for a while, with the latest batch of new content coming next week. The Terminator arrives in Vanguard and Warzone as part of the “Mercenaries of Fortune” update launching on July 27th.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Multiplayer and Zombies Free for Limited Time
The update goes live for Vanguard at 9 AM PT on the 26th and arrives for Warzone at 9 AM PT on the 27th. It introduces a new map, a new assault rifle, new playlists, and three new Operators including The Terminator’s T-800 and The Terminator 2’s T-1000. Warzone and Vanguard fans will be able to acquire both through paid Operator Bundles. These ten-item packs include a unique Finishing Move, Legendary Weapon Blueprints, and various cosmetic items and weapon attachments.
Task Force Immortal is also getting a new, non-mechanical Operator named Ikenna Olowe. A Nigerian chess master, martial artist, and battlefield engineer, players can unlock bonus XP by equipping him with the new Vargo-S Assault Rifle. Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone are also getting a new multiplayer map called Desolation. Players will engage in frantic close-quarters combat as they traverse the maze-like alleyways of a tropical mountainside village.
