Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence, a free-to-play third-person shooter coming to mobile devices. Past installments in the open-world action RPG series let players cooperate and compete to survive in cities ravaged by genetically engineered viruses. Last year Ubisoft announced The Division Heartland, a free-to-play entry in the series, and now The Division Resurgence will take the franchise on the go.
Ubisoft's 2016 online-only third-person shooter The Division takes players to New York City in the wake of a viral infection. As members of the Strategic Homeland Division, players are tasked with investigating the source of the outbreak while helping to rebuild the city and combat criminals. The shooter included elements of role-play and online multiplayer, too, with players able to cooperate in missions or compete in a special area called the Dark Zone to earn loot and expand their arsenal. The Division 2 launched in 2019, with gamers praising the title's new Washington D.C. setting and improved combat mechanics. The Division 2 received a new game mode in April 2022, demonstrating Ubisoft's commitment to supporting the online-only title.

An official reveal trailer for The Division Resurgence, posted to YouTube by Ubisoft, shows off the ambitious mobile game. The title promises to build upon the series' established canon while introducing new storylines, classes and enemy factions across its open-world New York City. Players can customize their character and engage in a variety of PvE activities, including story missions and world events, using specifically-designed mobile controls and user interface.
