However, one fan brought a sign to the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite referencing the popular classic WWF No Mercy and cameras caught the sign during the most fitting match on the show.
Among wrestling fans, 2000's WWF No Mercy is widely considered one of the best professional wrestling games ever made and one of the best of the Monday Night Wars era, with its WCW equivalent being WCW vs. nWo: Revenge. The game allowed players to go through multiple storylines on the way to becoming a champion in the then-WWF, along with various other modes such as survival and a deep character creator for the time. It would also be the final WWF game released on the Nintendo 64, though it would go out with a bang as No Mercy would become one of the best-selling games in the platform's history.

The game was shown some love by a fan in attendance at the August 3 edition of AEW Dynamite and was front-row facing the show's hard camera, giving him the perfect spot to share his sign. His sign read «I played this match on No Mercy» but it wouldn't be caught on camera until around halfway through the show. When cameras did see the sign, it was during a singles match between veterans and former WWE wrestlers Matt Hardy and Christian Cage.
