A new rumor has come up of what we can expect for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s graphic modes.
This rumor comes from a Twitter account using the handle insider_wtf. Basing off of a translation from redditor bluffsaywhat, these are the details for the graphic modes:
Fidelity mode will be set at 30FPS, and output at 4K base resolution. This version of the game will have ray-tracing, and additional visual effects
Performance mode will be set at 60FPS, and will output at 4K, but only upscaled. It won’t have visual effects such as ray-tracing as well.
As we have seen in multiple previews, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 really does look incredible on its own. However, as we can also see, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is no different to other modern games in that if you really want to play the game at 60 FPS, you have to make a deliberate choice to do so.
How does this compare to the original? Well, Marvel’s Spider-Man originally released on the PlayStation 4, so we’ll look at Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PlayStation 5. And on that platform, Fidelity Mode runs with all the additional visual effects, also at 30 FPS, at 4K. There is a Performance mode that goes for 60 FPS and has a dynamic resolution. There is also a Performance RT mode that adds ray tracing to that 60FPS, but subsequently, will affect that dynamic resolution more dramatically.
Obviously, since Marvel’s Spider-Man started out as a PlayStation 4 game, it has less intensive graphics than a native PlayStation 5 game. Insomniac had a lot of leeway to be able to add raytracing to Performance RT.
However, we can also be quite certain that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be far more visually impressive, and probably even better looking that Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered’s Performance RT
