It's been a good few months since we last heard from CD Projekt, but it sounds like the company's still got everything under control. As has been widely reported, it currently has two separate teams working on the next game in The Witcher series (commonly referred to as The Witcher 4), and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
The Witcher 4 is supposed to be next in line for release, and the good news is that it's fast approaching full production. «The Polaris team, working on the next game in The Witcher saga, made substantial progress [in the last six months], which will soon enable us to wrap up pre-production and take this project to the full production phase,» states joint CEO Michał Nowakowski, as part of the organisation's most recent financial briefing.
Of course, «full production» doesn't really tell us much — it just means that the game's foundations have been given the greenlight, and it's time for the whole team to knuckle down and start pulling everything together. With that in mind, it's probably going to be quite some time until we actually get to see The Witcher 4 in action. We're talking years, still.
And on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the next Cyberpunk game is starting to take shape at CD Projekt's Boston studio. Nowakowski says that the title remains in the planning stage, but progress is being made all the time. Needless to say, we're going to be waiting on this one for a long while.
