Larian Studios has said the physical version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will now come on four discs and likely be delayed to April.
The physical Deluxe Edition of the game was announced in November, when Larian said it would come on three discs for Xbox Series X, two discs for PS5, and one disc containing a CD key and installer for PC.
However, Larian director of publishing Michael Douse said this week that the studio hasn’t been able to fit the game on three discs for Xbox.
“The Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will indeed have 4 discs, since we’re 500mb over the limit for 3,” he wrote on X. “Only option would have been to cut some content out but that didn’t make sense, so confirming 4.”
He also said that shipments of the first wave of physical copies for Xbox look set to be delayed from this month to the first week of April.
“It’s probable the wave 1 March 25 date will slip to first week of April because of this, but we’ll start shipping each SKU in order of readiness,” Douse wrote. “PC first. No discs makes life easy. 4 discs, hard!”
Priced at $79.99 / €79.99, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition will feature a number of physical extras, including:
It will also include the following digital extras:
Douse recently condemned “threats and toxicity” against developers as the studio works on implementing official mod support for the game on all formats.
He also claimed that Baldur’s Gate 3 has now surpassed 10 million players.
