The Outfit reaches a thrilling conclusion after its many narrative twists, leading to an explosive ending that reveals what it all really means. Mark Rylance stars as British expatriate and bespoke cutter Leonard Burling, commonly referred to as “English” by the mobsters who frequent his Chicago tailor shop. Leonard is passionate about his trade and seemingly uninterested in his shady patrons’ business until his own dark past reveals a hidden motive.
Rylance’s performance ignites a tidy and rather modest film. The Outfit is directed and co-written by the author Graham Moore, known cinematically for having written the screenplay for The Imitation Game. The film is set entirely at Leonard’s shop, with various characters populating the store throughout a dire evening. Zoey Deutch plays Mable, Leonard’s shop assistant, with Johnny Flynn and Dylan O’Brien portraying two youthful gangsters, Francis and Richie. Francis and Richie work on behalf of the latter’s father Roy Boyle (Simon Russell Beale), the head of the Boyle crime family. The pair seeks refuge in Leonard’s shop after a violent encounter with La Fontaine’s (Nikki Amuka-Bird) rival organization.

While Leonard is accustomed to Francis and Richie using his shop as a location for criminal correspondence, he is suddenly required to utilize his craftsmanship in sinister forms of application.
