Warner Bros. Games has launched the MultiVersus open beta.
While an ‘early access’ version of the beta went live last week for selected players, it’s now available to all users in the Americas, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The MultiVersus open beta is downloadable for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC, and features full cross-play support.
At launch the MultiVersus open beta includes 17 characters, nine maps and eight modes.
Because it’s a free-to-play game, players do not need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold membership to play MultiVersus.
The open beta will include optional in-game purchases. Any progress or purchases made during the beta period will carry forward when the game is fully released.
An end date has not been set for the open beta, which will “continue to get updated with new characters, maps, seasonal content, and more in the months ahead”, suggesting any ‘final’ release will simply come as an update to the existing software.
Earlier today Warner detailed the latest MultiVersus patch, which reduces the effectiveness of Taz’s controversial spin move and adds LeBron James as a playable character.
At one point during the MultiVersus closed beta the title reached more concurrent users than any other one-on-one fighting game in Steam‘s history.
