“It’s Alex’s 21st Birthday, but she’s stuck at the amusement arcade on a late shift so her friends decide to surprise her, but a masked killer dressed as Mickey Mouse decides to play a game of his own with them which she must survive,” the official synopsis reads.
Steamboat Willie, which features the earlier version of the Mickey Mouse character, entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, meaning anyone is allowed to use this version of the character in film and television projects as Disney’s copyright has lapsed.
Into Frame Productions’ The Mouse Trap is directed by Jamie Bailey. Paul Whitney, Mark Popejoy, Alexander Gausman, and Andrew Agopsowicz serve as producers on the movie, while Filmcore’s Mem Ferda is the co-producer.
Phillips is known for starring as Santa Claus in the 2017’s Once Upon a Time at Christmas and 2019’s The Nights Before Christmas horror films. He also played Uwe in an episode of the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led FUBAR series and Bandit in an episode of Netflix’s The Witcher.
The Mouse Trap also stars Sophie McIntosh, Callum Sywyk, Allegra Nocita, Ben Harris, Mireille Gagné, Mackenzie Mills, James Laurin, Kayleigh Styles, Jesse Masmith, Madeline Kelman, Damir Kovic, and Nick Biskupek.
