Nintendo's Treehouse events are also historically known to include developer interviews, but whether or not any interviews will be part of this event is unknown.
Tears of the Kingdom releases May 12, but anyone who is buying it digitally from the eShop can start playing on May 11 at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET on May 12.
Expectations are high for Tears of the Kingdom, both in terms of quality and commercial success. Predecessor Breath of the Wild was critically adored--it scored a 10/10 here at GameSpot--and has sold more than 29 million units, so the sequel has very large shoes to fill.
