A The Legend of Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 version might very well be in the works at Nintendo.
Remember when we covered that Nintendo allegedly showed off an improved version of Breath of the Wild on the Switch 2 during Gamescom last year? As covered back then, the Switch successor was demoed behind closed doors, and one of the games that was shown was reportedly an enhanced version of 2017's Zelda entry. Shortly after this initial report, we wrote that the Switch 2 was claimed to be capable of running Breath of the Wild in 4K resolution at 60FPS. Although we assumed that this was merely a tech demo to display the capabilities of the Switch successor, known SEGA/Atlus leaker 'Midori' now suggests that Nintendo is actually working on an enhanced BOTW Switch 2 version.
"There is a project at Nintendo with the codename U-King-O It might be related to the rumors of the next Nintendo console codename", the leaker wrote on X yesterday. As covered yesterday, the codename for the Switch 2 codename is said to be 'Muji'.
Interestingly enough, as pointed out on X by user 'Skipper93653' "U-King" was the codename for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the addition of the "O" suffix hasn't been used by Nintendo before. This might very well suggest that the "O" suffix is for the Switch successor.
Although not confirmed in any way, we can see Nintendo releasing a BOTW version for its next console - after all, almost all Wii U games (except for much-demanded Twilight Princess and Wind Waker) have since been ported to the original Switch. In all honesty, we would love to see Nintendo release a BOTW Switch 2 version that runs at 60FPS in 4K resolution. On the current Switch, the game runs in 900p at 30FPS in docked mode, and 720p at 30FPS in handheld mode.
What are your thoughts on this? Will Nintendo bring BOTW to its next console? Would you
