The much-anticipated remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is here, and much like the Gamecube original, the game is bursting with puzzles, secrets, and some quirky mechanics that new players may find slightly perplexing. Don’t worry though, we’re here to cut The Thousand-Year Door’s more confusing aspects down to size.
In order to kick off Chapter 6 of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, you’ll need to get yourself a ticket to ride the Excess Express train. This is similar to how you had to get a blimp ticket to kick off Chapter 3, but, of course, the steps are a bit different. Don’t worry though, we have you covered…
After wrapping up Chapter 5, you’ll talk to Professor Frankly, who will inform you that the next Crystal Star is in Poshley Sanctum, which can only be accessed via the Excess Express. You’ll need to talk to Don Pianta again in order to secure a ticket.
Head through Peeka’s shop on the far West edge of Rogueport to get to Don Pianta’s office. Unfortunately, he’s incapacitated due to missing his daughter Francesca too much (she eloped with her boyfriend earlier in the game). So, you have to find her.
Head back to Keyhaul Key, then into the jungle. You’ll find Francesca and Frankie next to the pond. Unfortunately, Francesca has lost her wedding ring and isn’t going anywhere without it. Obviously, you’re going to have to find it.
Head deeper into the jungle. Near the entrance to the Pirate’s Grotto, next to the big palm tree, there is a patch of grass that’s sparkling slightly. Hit that with your hammer and the wedding ring will pop out.
Return the ring to Francesca, then hop on Cortez’s ship back to Rogueport. Talk to Don Pianta and he’ll give you the ticket. The just north up the main road in west Rogueport and give the ticket to the black-and-blue toad porter near the train.
And there you are, get ready to solve some mysteries aboard the Excess Express!
