The iPhone has a 'secret button' that has received quite a bit of attention after a viral video explained where to find it and how to use it. Apple has stayed fairly quiet about this very handy way to get things done, despite the button being programmable to do almost anything. However, it does require a little bit of setting up.
Every iPhone has a right-side button that serves to activate Siri, wake, sleep, and power an iPhone on and off. The two volume buttons change the sound level while also taking photos in the camera app and screenshots when combined with the right button. Some iPhones have a Home button that unsurprisingly returns the user to the Home Screen, as well as switching to multitasking with a double click. While this 'secret button' is very real, it is one that cannot actually be seen.

Using the iPhone's 'secret button' simply requires a tap on the back of the phone. The iPhone can sense movement and the quick thump of a finger tapping firmly on an iPhone is enough to detect and respond with an action. It's a really cool feature but isn't new. Apple introduced the 'Back Tap' feature in iOS 14 and it's compatible with iPhone 8 and newer models. Apparently, plenty of people discovered the ability for the first time when EllyAwesomeTech posted about it on TikTok. EllyAwesomeTech set it up to open Shazam to find out the name of the song playing, but it can do much more than that.
The Back Tap options can be found and enabled in the iPhone's Settings app, under the Accessibility tab and the Touch section. There's an option for Double Tap and Triple Tap. Apple doesn't allow any actions to be assigned to a single back tap, presumably because it would be too
