iPhone SE 5G could have an early launch date! Based on a latest tip from renowned analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the iPhone SE 3, or iPhone SE 5G, could end up launching on March 8. And it won’t be alone! Gurman says that the new iPad Air will also accompany the 5G iPhone SE at this launch event. There is no mention of a revamped base 10.2-inch iPad. Apple is yet to announce anything on this front officially.
Previous leaks had suggested the iPhone SE launch to happen sometime in late April or May. However, Gurman’s leaks have been quite accurate in the past and we could expect Apple to actually come up with something on March 8. The iPhone SE 5G, or iPhone SE 3 itself is expected to be a minor refresh of the 2020 iPhone SE model, which was based on the 2017’s iPhone 8.
The iPhone SE 5G is expected to be largely based on the current generation iPhone SE from 2020. Rumours suggest that the only aspect Apple could change in the new model is the chipset. The new model could borrow the A15 chipset from iPhone 13 that will bring 5G connectivity and improved performance.
The rest of the specs are expected to remain unchanged. The iPhone SE 5G will have a 4.7-inch LCD display with fat bezels surrounding it and a Touch ID sensor. The phone is expected to have a 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera. Gurman says that the phone could have an improved camera this time. Test units of the iPhone SE have been found to be imported in India along with two models of the iPad Air and iPad 10.2-inch.
On the other hand, the iPad Air is also expected to get a performance upgrade. The leaks suggest an upgraded A series chipset with 5G connectivity. Apple, however, is not likely to change the design of the iPad Air from the 2020 model.
