While India will be entering the series in a red-hot form, Sri Lankans are coming to the series after a heavy defeat by Australia in a 5 match T20 series and will be looking to regain their momentum. Rohit Sharma will be taking on the captain’s armband as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer may find new opportunities to get back to the national side. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are both back in the squad after time off from the team. Deepak Chahar and Suryakumar Yadav will miss out due to injuries.
Sri Lanka also has injury issues in the squad as Ramesh Mendis, Nuwan Thushara and Ramesh Mendis will not be participating in the game. Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the entire T20I series because of testing Covid-19 positive. He is expected to make a comeback for the test series later.
